Reading on, I came to appreciate the actual simplicity of this Christian walk, and finding that when truly you have found God, His love compels you to want more of Him. This was something I needed to read, at that point, and decide for myself, that I was going to ask for more… It is only after long and loving mental intercourse that the full possibilities of both can be explored.” This part further taught me that simply becoming born again was not enough that “…full knowledge of one personality by another cannot be achieved in one encounter.

Before a sinful man can think a right thought of God, there must have been a work of enlightenment done within him. “…before a man can seek God, God must first have sought the man. The first chapter (or day, since it is is divided into a 31-day meditational) gave me a deeper understanding of what the process I had just gone through really entailed. One of the reviews given about the book was by Warren Wiersbe, who said “Happy is the Christian who reads a Tozer book when his soul is parched and God seems far away.” And oh, how true this is. I don’t remember exactly what moved me to buy it, and why I picked that particular one (seeing that I did not know Tozer before then), but I did, and it was just what I needed, thanks be to God. The very first Christian non-fiction I ever read after becoming born again (and I barely read any before), was this one The Pursuit of God, by A.W.
